Capitaan is the last living Holsteiner son of Capitano, foundation sire of the Holsteiner Capitol line which has produced numerous Olympic and International showjumpers. Capitano passes on his signature jumping. Capitaan's fraternal brother, Capitol, is the sire of Olympic showjumpers: Dobel’s Cento –gold medalist; Gitania; VDL Cardento; Carthago. Famous offspring include Cassini I & II, Carolus, Indoctro, and 40+ approved sons and grandsons in every studbook. Heilbutt is the grand damsire of Capitol. Capitano is damsire Cassini I, the most sought after Holsteiner sire in the World, and combines the bloodlines of Capitano, Cor de la Bryere and Heilbutt, as does Capitaan. Stamm 702, through sisters Kamille (Capitaan's dam) and Maja, have founded important showjumper families in Holland, Switzerland and France, including Nation's and World Cup competitors and numerous approved stallions.

Capitaan's foals are registerable BWP and Zangerscheide.

Cor de la Bryere founded the other important Holsteiner "C" line producing the famous stallions Corrado, Caletto, Calypso, Constant, Corland, Corlandus, Champus, Calvados, Cor D’ Alme Z, Calando, Concorde, Challenger, Cicero, Candidus, Cor Noir, Come Back, Challenger and many sons and daughters who have produced important stallion sons and daughters. He is the damsire of Burggraff, South Pacific, Rantares, Dolany and Olympic gold medalist Fein Cera with American Peter Wylde. Heilbutt is also the damsire of Ronald, Maximus and Leonardo. Capitano is found in the 4 generation pedigrees of 4 of the 7 premium approved Holsteiner stallions at the German 2005 approvals. Capitaan’s breeder, Soenke Thamling, also bred Olympic, World and Nations Cup showjumper Eurocommerce Montreal.

Capitaan is homozygous grey. He produces leggy, modern foals with his beautiful face, superior movement and a genetic ability to jump correctly and with spectacular form. Capitaan’s Holsteiner '06 filly foal, Gratina, was awarded 3rd highest score in the US and was judged 1st premium.
